Happy Holidays from Valley Elementary (December Newsletter)

As winter settles in and the snow begins to fly, Valley Elementary is settling in for a short winters nap. Our Holiday break is closing in and it will be time for family, fun and giving.

This year's Holiday Break will be December 24th, 2014 through January 2nd, 2015.
The Children will return to school on Monday January 5th, 2015.

**Our Holiday Shop this year was a resounding success. Debbie Crawford would like to once again thank each and every volunteer that helped out. Your hard work and dedication to the children helped make things absolutely wonderful. Every child had a chance to shop and purchase gifts for their family members and even a little something for themselves.
**We do want to take a moment to thank all those community members who donated items for our holiday shop, your generosity ensured that every child was able to purchase a gift.

At this time we have No New Construction Update. Phase I is complete and Phase II is on hold. We are waiting on the Bid to go out for Phase II and the plans from the Architect and Engineer.

The PTA hosted a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser which helped to send the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade classes on a field trip to Morgantown WV where they attended a showing of Mary Poppins at the Met Theater and afterwards had lunch at the WVU Coliseum where many children had a chance to have their picture taken in front of the Statue of Jerry West.  Mark Graham, principal at Valley Elementary overheard students proclaiming it was the best field trip they had every been on.

A Special Thanks goes to Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Durr and the Volunteers from the Arthurdale Service Club who came to help serve the guests during the Spaghetti Dinner. We appreciate all of your hard work and help! Thanks Again!!!!!!!

Shirley Rogers, our Parent Volunteer Coordinator would like to let all parents know that work will begin on Dr. Seuss Week following the Christmas Holiday. She is looking for Parent Volunteers and Fresh New Ideas. A Planning Meeting will be held in Mid-January. Stay tuned for more details.

Welcome VES Community

WELCOME

Welcome to the all new Valley Elementary Cougar's Corner. The new blog spot that will be replacing the Valley Elementary PTA newsletter. We want our parents, grandparents and community to be able to have access to the most up to date information concerning activities, fundraisers, and all ideas with our PTA. Each month we send home a long newsletter showcasing our events and PTA news. We all know that this newsletter can get lost in transition, is forgotten in the abyss that is the children's desks at school and so many other reasons that we as parents do not see these newsletters. With our new Blog you as parents will have instant access to the news as we write it. Our blog is available online and through the Blogger App that can be downloaded through Google Play or iTunes. You Do Not have to have a gmail account to read our Blog. We will be able to showcase our school and our PTA throughout the school year and at times will have Guest Bloggers who will be able to provide our community with some very important information on popular topics. So Welcome Again to our new Blog! I hope this will be another tool to keep everyone as informed as possible. I look forward to future posts!
