January News

VALLEY ELEMENTARY NEWS

As January comes to a close we inch closer and closer to Spring. Plowing through February and March always seems to be a theme for our area. Whether it be the cold temperatures or the many inches of snow Winter will continue to hammer at us for a bit longer.
On that note, we'd like to remind all Parents/Guardians to dress your children for the weather. Prepare for the cold and the snow. Dress them in layers for here at school as our buildings do6 run in waves of warm and cool and children do spend a brief moment of time going from our Main Buildings to the Gym for their Specials Classes. Remind your children to have coats zipped, hats and gloves on as they are getting on the buses and exiting your cars during drop off.  We want to work together to keep our children safe and warm during the Winter Months!

As we enter into 2015 we find that construction progress begins again. The project is being advertised at this time. The Pre-Bid meeting happened on Tuesday January 27th, 2015 @ the Valley Elementary Cafeteria. The Bid proposal deadline is February 26th. The sealed bids will be opened on March 5th. The contract will be awarded and construction may begin if there is an acceptable bid. The Pre-Bid meeting held on Tuesday January 27th at the Valley Elementary cafeteria showed great promise with 30-40 participants attending the meeting. The bid process was explained and questions were answered by the project manager.

                                                January News

I am please to announce that during the month of December we had 15 NEW Parents volunteer their time @ our School. Throughout the course of the school year I have been working closely with all our parent volunteers. I extend to each and every parent an invitation to Volunteer at Valley Elementary. Parent Volunteers work side by side with Teachers, whether it be in the classroom or by helping with copying or cutting out items needed for class.
One Note I'd like to mention are Guidelines we have here at Valley for all Volunteers.
1.) Parents must sign in at the Main Office before going into any classroom.
2.) Parents must wear a Blue "Visitors" badge while in the school.
3.) Parents must sign out at the Main Office before leaving the school.
4.) If you are volunteering in your child's classroom please do not visit other classrooms while in the building.
5.) If you are volunteering OUTSIDE of your child's classroom (i.e copying, library, Read A Loud...etc) you are not permitted to enter your child's classroom. It is distracting to the teacher and children in the classroom and disrupts work time.
We appreciate your help and your consideration as our children are in their learning environment.
I want to thank everyone who has come to volunteer here the first half of our school year and I look forward to the second half of the year!
If you haven't volunteered please come join us!!!!!!

My Project: My students would like to visit the State Capitol museum in Charleston, WV. They will take snap shots of various artifacts in the museum and use the pictures when writing their research paper and answering questions about the State Capitol.
My project will make a difference in helping the students to bring history alive. They will be able to visit the museum and actually see and hear in person what the State Capitol is really like. The class trip will change my students lives from not only reading about our capitol and how the government works, but they'll be able to see and experience touring the capitol for themselves. My students will also get to experience sitting down and eating a meal in a restaurant.
My students need: transportation to tour the state capitol, and money for lunch.

Come out and join us for our Monthly Meeting. Tuesday February 4th, 2015 at 6:30pm in the Library @ Valley Elementary!
